Besides after your done with your conversion project, you still have $300.00 piece of equipment, ok granted you would still need a VHS Player, which since are obsolete, and now $100.00 or more new. Besides it was ether this or spend $300.00 on a VHS/DVD Recorder/Player, that's totally not worth it. Totally worth the money only spent $50.00. After careful consideration, and exploring other options, which are limited for Macs, I went with this product. I saw the product on Amazon, and read reviews and saw how it worked. As VHS Tapes wear over time, it's important to convert them before its too late. But I have already converted 10 tapes and I am very happy with the results.
It can be lengthy if you have many hours of footage. One thing to be mindful is not to mess with the cables, as they are sensitive, any slight movement and you get a disconnection pop up message. I love this product its very easy to convert your old VHS tapes to Digital, or DVD.

Vidbox Video Conversion for Mac is an affordable way to archive analog videotapes, assuming you still have an old camcorder or VCR around to play them from.Video Conversion is very simple, cables are sensitive though. There are no settings for capturing frame rates other than 29.97 (NTSC, SECAM, and PAL video standards are supported, however) or adjusting the encode quality, but all files are saved as progressive, so you won’t have to deal with the interlacing issues inherent with analog formats. Capturing is done in real-time, so a two-hour tape takes the same amount of time to convert.
